If you have something due soon, an assignment you’re supposed to be working on, a test you should be studying for or a deadline at work - this is your sign to go and do it. Get off tumblr and dedicate some time to whatever your task is. Do yourself a favour and prevent future-you from feeling anxious and overwhelmed because you aren’t prepared. Don’t leave it until the last minute and cause yourself unnecessary stress. Stop procrastinating. I believe in you. You can do this.

for anyone who needs to hear it: you are going to be okay. the time will come when your heart will feel light. everything is going to work out, there is nothing to worry about. but until that time comes try your best to relax and laugh at yourself. remind yourself that you are worth loving and you deserve the good things coming your way. keep your head up and enjoy this challenging journey, everything is going to be alright.

I’mma be real for a second. All the studyspo posts and studyblr reblogs won’t help you unless YOU make the change. Looking to stop procrastinating? Get better grades? Eat healthier? Get fitter?

All that’s stopping you from doing this is you. All you need is discipline. This took me ages of learning the hard way that that’s literally all it is. Discipline. It’s finding the root core of WHY you want to study WHY you want to eat healthier and it needs to be something strong that you can hold on to. Such as being top of your class, going to med school, practicing a good routine for after high school, wanting to feel better by eating better, want a longer life etc. etc.

After you find your motivation, hold on to it. And from there on out you have to fight for it. And practice. With practice it will become easier, I promise. Starting is always the hardest part but don’t give up. Discipline yourself to be who you want and achieve your goals. Don’t let anything stop you.

If you’re having a bad day…

  • Change your clothes. Even if you’re already wearing something comfortable, change into something else that’s still casual and comfy.
  • Eat your favorite food. A bowl of rice, ice cream, pasta, make a sandwich, anything that makes you happy.
  • Eat some fruit. A banana, apple, peach, pear, some berries, fruit is always a good option.
  • Eat some protein. Cheese, meat, eggs, rice and beans, ect. Something to give you energy.
  • Drink lots of water. Fill up a water bottle and keep it with you, but remember to actually drink it.
  • Find as many pillows and blankets as you can around the house and pile them on your bed. THE MESSIER, THE BETTER!
  • Bring your acquired snacks into your room. Even if you don’t make a habit of eating in your room, make an exception this time.
  • Bring a couple of your favorite stuffed animals to share your nest with.
  • If you have cats, invite them as well.
  • Watch an episode or two of your favorite show GUILT FREE. Nothing sad! Watch something that will make you smile and laugh a lot. And ENJOY IT. Give yourself this time to decompress without stressing over a million other things. I know it can be hard, but YOU CAN DO IT
  • Hang a sign outside your door, letting family members/roommates know that you are currently unavailable. Be polite, courteous, and take their needs into consideration if they need something from you, but it’s okay to have a little chunk of time all to yourself when you’re having a tough day. We’ve all been there.
  • Turn off your phone. Just for a little while so you can completely relax. Stay off social media too - you don’t need any drama right now.
  • Once you’ve finished your show and eaten a healthy amount of food, do something productive. Even if it’s just one or two little chores - sweep, do the dishes, tidy up your room, dust, reorganize the bookshelf, whatever. Do something that will make you feel like you’ve accomplished something. Even if it’s little, be proud of yourself for each task!
  • Listen to music while you’re working. iPod, record player, radio, etc. Make it something up beat with a nice and lively tempo.
  • Dance and sing. I don’t care if you dance like a fish out of water and sing like a dog whose tail was stepped on, you are a beautiful contribution to this world so don’t be afraid to shine!
  • Alternate in doing tasks throughout the day with doing things you enjoy. Paperwork and then a walk (fresh air always helps!), mop the floors than read that book you’ve been wanting to explore.
  • Talk to a friend if you need to. If you don’t think you have anyone to talk to, let me be the first to tell you, YOU DO! There are thousands of kindhearted people on here who would love to get to know you and want to help you and hear about your day if you are feeling under the weather.
  • Remember that this is today. Every tomorrow is another chance. Everyone has rough days, and sometimes we get a whole long string of them, but life is so much more than just the bad days. Go to bed knowing that tomorrow is a new start.

productivity and mental health

the studyblr and studygram communities are wonderful. nearly everybody is extremely kind, helpful, and motivating!! i love that about us. and we all work so hard, right?? of course!

but sometimes that can be a problem.

you know those 100 days of productivity challenges that you see going around sometimes??? i was thinking today, and often students- especially studyblrs/studygrams- feel the need to be productive every day. all the time. and that’s just not realistic, nor is it fair to ourselves.

we’re human. we have off days. we need time to recharge. please please please don’t feel badly if all you could do today was survive. you don’t need to read a hundred pages or run a mile or revise a chapter every single day to have worth as a person. you’re doing your best, and that’s all you can do! working to improve ourselves is important, yes, but so is being gentle with ourselves and recognizing our limits. this is especially true for those of us with mental illnesses or chronic illnesses that impede our ability to work sometimes. it’s okay!!! bc you are strong as hell friend n you are doing great.

just don’t overwork yourself. take a deep breath, cut yourself some slack. you don‘t have to feel guilty for not wanting to study all the time, or not finishing everything you planned to, or not being productive every second of the day. you are not any less of a studyblr or a person.
